Salice Boutique

Unique. Current. Fun. Feminine. Kristen Greer, owner of Salicé Boutique, has gathered everything you need to pull together a new look, a fun gift, or a cool addition to your closet or jewelry box. Her shop on Davie Avenue welcomes you with charm and style. Once you enter, there’s plenty to see and try on!

“Statesville has needed this kind of woman’s shop for some time,” Kristen shared. “I started in 2006 selling jewelry on eBay and did very well. That grew a web-based jewelry store, but I realized with a boutique in town I could offer even more. I love discovering beautiful new items for the shop.” The store is filled with everything from jewelry, belts, bags and shoes, to bath and beauty products, scarves, accessories, and of course, clothes. There’s nothing frumpy at Salicé–each item is ultra stylish, fashionably today, and ready to take you out on the town, around town or vacationing glamorously in a new town. Kristen’s selections appeal to young–and young at heart–women. “We offer dressy and casual clothes, shoes, and bags for women of all ages. We’re young and trendy, but any woman can find something they will love,” Kristen explained. “We have regular customers who come in often to see what’s new.”

SUCCESS IN BUSINESS
Kristen is a savvy businesswoman and a loving mom. She and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Kaylee, who’s six and into music like her mother, and three year old Ruthie, who loves playing in the pool. “They keep me running when I’m not at the store, but the good news is, I have a great team here at Salicé. I can stay balanced at work and home. That’s important to me,” Kristen says. “Adaire Martin is our shop manager; I couldn’t do it without her. She has an eye for style and her pulse on what busy women want. I don’t worry a bit when I’m in Atlanta buying for the store or doing mom things with the girls. Pam DeShields manages our online store–a huge job–listing items to keep folks up to date on what’s new.”

Kristen and Lee are both entrepreneurs. Lee’s family owns the Cleaning Market, and his business experience is helpful as Kristen builds her business. “Lee started out at 16 in the family business driving and delivering; now he’s sales manager,” Kristen told me. “We both like being our own boss.” After getting her associate degree at Western Piedmont Community College, Kristen worked as a personal injury/litigation paralegal. “My dream was always to be a free-lance paralegal once I had children. I was able to do that for a year after I had Kaylee, but I wasn’t truly independent, so I took a chance selling jewelry online. The eBay business was a first step in getting to Salicé.”

Kristen’s team is all about empowering women to feel good about themselves. “We try on everything ourselves to make sure it looks great, feels nice to the touch, and is flattering and comfortable,” Kristen explained. “We’re on the website modeling clothes and jewelry so shoppers can see how things look. We put our prices online, too, so you’ll know how reasonable everything is.” The shop’s wide selection of styles is hand picked by Kristen and include Miss Me Jeans and Tees, MM Couture, Big Star and Rock Revival Jeans, Free People dresses, Lulumari & Luluvari, Tulle, and Idylle tees. The website, www.saliceboutique.com lists the full line. If you don’t have time to visit the store, you can shop at Salicé online.Choose to pick up your purchases at Salicé, or have your items shipped at no extra cost. And follow Salicé Boutique’s Facebook page, too–they’ve added over 600 fans since February!

IT’S ALL ABOUT STYLE
Salicé is Italian for ‘willow tree.’ “We’re nestled here beneath a beautiful cherry willow, and when Adaire suggested Salicé as the name for our boutique, I thought it was perfect. We want the shop to be inviting, friendly and fun. I think we do that everyday,” Kristen says. “Each room has a different feel, different items. In the back room, where lots of jewelry and gifts are on display, we have a comfy couch. The highlight of our front room, filled withhandbags, tees, watches, scarves, more jewelry and shoes, is our huge Ikea fireworks chandelier. Everyone comments on it.”

Funky, priced right jewelry is fun to shop for at Salicé. Settle in on the couch. Try on all that glitters and shines. Diana Warner’s handmade jewelry, worn by Rachel Ray and Natasha Bedingfield, has been featured in Gossip Girls. Colorful Slap Watches, with their mix and match style, have been featured on The Ellen Show and The View. Designer inspired Geneva Watches, with colorful silicon and gemstone designs, are hugely popular. Retro and contemporary bracelets and earrings–including clip-ons–sparkle on their racks. Lavishly is unique, vintage/retro jewelry that mixes with today’s fashions. All the jewelry is priced for fun, gift giving or to painlessly complete your own look.

Lindsay Phillips’ SwitchFlops, with interchangeable straps, and high fashion Lovely People shoes are well worth trying on. Organic bags by Glam Naturale, leather handbags by The Sak and vegan bags by Natural Life hang throughout the store. Kristen and her team can help you pull it together with a new summer scarf over your tank top or the perfect belt. They specialize in personal styling. Making sure you look great and feel wonderful in every outfit is critical.

“One of my favorite things is DoodleDivas, Steven Hall’s sassy art prints, tee shirts and notecards. He’s from Statesville–he graduated from North Iredell High School,” Kristen shared, showing me his bold black and white doodles. “Everyone loves his work. It’s funky, upbeat and makes great gifts for girlfriends and fun people you know.”

“Feathers are in,” Kristen emphasized with a cute feathered headband. “We keep up with trends in all our fashions and accessories. Salicé is a great place for boyfriends and husbands to shop for the women in their lives. We’re glad to help them make the perfect selection for any occasion.” Bath and body products make great gifts, as well. Kristen’s lotions, fragrances, and soaps are non-allergenic and skin-friendly. Lollia premier bath and beauty soaps, lotions and perfumes, TokyoMilk–an Oprah “best beauty bet”–and Me! Bath (featured in Beverly Hills Housewives) are some of the lines you can sample at Salicé.

A PART OF THE COMMUNITY
Kristen’s approach to helping women feel good spills over into her community life. She’s planning to send out invitations to monthly in-store events that support local charities while offering everyone an opportunity to get together, meet other women, learn something new and give back. She’s hosting SPN Women this month and staging a fashion show in September supporting Relay for Life. Kristen is a Chamber of Commerce ambassador and a worship team piano player and singer at Grace Covenant Church of Statesville, where she and Lee have been members for four years. Kristen enjoys volunteering at church and for local charities.

Salicé Boutique makes shopping in Statesville much more fun and trendy. Kristen stays busy, focused, and excited about the future at Salicé. “I focus on family, church, community and this business. It all keeps me very busy, and that’s exactly how I like it!”
